Garden: Week 13

Here is my garden update for the past week.  It looks about the same with a few little things going on.  Above Elena is checking out our Golden Bell Pepper plant.  The Green Bell has two growing on it.  They sure grow fast, can't wait to eat them :)

Here is a garden shot.  Looks about the same as last week.  The sunflowers are starting to die while new ones are blooming.  One stalk fell over...there were 9 sunflower heads on it.  It was heavy!
First cherry tomato is starting to ripen.  The beef steak tomatoes are still flowering but no sign of any fruit yet :(
Harvested our first 2 zucchinis last week.  They are much smaller than traditional zucchini but oh so tender and tasty.  However, those prickly spines on the plant hurt terribly.  A couple more are ripening up.
The muskmelon (above) and watermelon are blooming new blooms every few days but no fruit has yet to set.  Maybe we don't have enough pollinators.  I've only seen 6-8 bees at a time in the garden.  I wonder if I can hand pollinate.  Maybe next year we'll have to add some bees to the garden.
The nutterbutter squash has bounced back well from our heat spell.  The cracked fruit seems to have healed itself and is starting to yellow up.  Might have fresh squash in a couple of weeks.
Another nutterbutter squash pollinated and starting to grow.  You can see 2 others that have just flowered and one getting ready to flower.  Looking delicious!
A new sunflower flowered this week.  I love the colors.
The corn has bugs inside the outermost leaf.  Not sure we'll have corn to harvest :(
The avocado tree is looking beautiful.  So much lush green new growth.
Pink Lady is loving the warm up.  She has apples forming and quite a few blossoms.
Elena ate the first ripe Golden Dorsett apple this week and we have a few more almost ready.
Hydrangeas are in bloom.  I just love hydrangeas.
