Elena's Preschool Open House

Elena's preschool held an open house tonight.  Her teacher picked Dr. Seuss as a theme.  Above are truffula trees.  The kids mixed their "grass" and created the trees with patterns.  Aren't they just the cutest?  Ms. Amanda is an awesome preschool teacher.

Earlier this year, Elena brought home "Monkey" from the Dr. Seuss stories.  We had him for a weekend and our job was to document our time.  He couldn't go to the beach, so Elena made him a beach, brought him a friend and dressed them in beach attire.
Elena had so much fun showing Monkey around our yard.  They also did some gardening and trapeze acts from the swing set.
Ms. Amanda had saved some of Elena's artwork.  Above is a picture of me and Charlie (sort of looks like he is nursing, doesn't it?).  We are standing on a machine about to eat the spider web according to Elena.
A water color.  Elena wrote her name in mirror image..even the "N" since she usually has that backwards.
Here is a collage of some drawings: her name (as she usually writes it), a rainbow, grandma and grandpa.
The kids draw pictures, then Ms. Amanda writes down their words for them.  Check out the leprechaun's beard!

Ms. Amanda also had art hanging around the classroom.  One was a "complete the sentence" then based on the answers, you were to guess which was your child.  When you lifted the paper, there were hand prints with their name.  Things I learned from this paper: Elena is 5, she is 5 inches tall, she sometimes has dessert after dinner, she likes when Daddy hugs her, and she would like to travel to China because she likes the music.  She is very much a geographer like her daddy.  Until recently, she was always talking about France, now everything is China.  I better get a map up in her room so she can continue to explore the world :)
