Visit from Grandma Rae and Papa Rick, Charlie 6 months

Over this last weekend, my parents were here visiting.  After picking them up at the airport, we drove over to Sea Port Village for lunch and a carousel ride.
Elena was so sad when she missed the carousel ride at Disneyland.  So nice to have one right here in San Diego.  This is her first carousel ride :)
 An antique carousel!!
Riding with Grandma.  Can you spy her legs?
So fun!  The white horses went up and down as the carousel went around.
Happy 1/2 birthday, Charlie!  6 months old today!!
This carousel had horses, camels, bears and dragons!  Oh, my!!
Grammie and Papa appreciating the flower color.  Arctic temps back in Illinois with 5 feet of snow.
Walking around Sea Port Village being a tourist.
Elena ran out of this picture, leaving Carl behind with all the rum! hehehe
She climbed on the cow bench.

Friday we went to the Zoo where there was quite a bit more climbing.

Fierce.  I've never caught the eye of a silver back before.
 Galapagos turtles!

We went to the animal show just as the sun broke free from the clouds.
 Rachel, Grammie and Charlie
We took a slow, less traveled path through the zoo today.  Our path lead us through one of the aviaries.  So awesome to see such amazing birds.
This panda cub is just about 18 months old and is in the process of being booted by his mother.  Once they leave, they never come home.
This White Rhino was extremely active...playing and running.
 A ride from Papa!
 Flamingos!
 A ride from Daddy!

We had some down time at the house.
Grandma Rae and Elena worked on Valentine's Day cards.  At Elena's new preschool, they celebrate with a party and exchange cards.
Look at that cute face!  Charlie has been busy.  He had 2 bottom teeth break through during this visit, began sitting unassisted and figured out how to complete a roll from tummy to back.  Watch out world...he is on the move!
Swing time.  Hanging out in the backyard getting some sun.

No trip would be complete without some beach time.  It may have been a little chilly but we had an awesome time.
So excited to be running on the beach.
 Traversing through water.
And chasing birds on the beach.
 Scrips Pier
Checking out the erosion patterns on the sandstone.
Para sailors were out in droves.
 Beautiful!
Charlie needed a little snack.  Our first time nursing in a carrier.  Thanks to my mom for helping get it situated.
Nice view back at the pier.
 A little photo fun!
 Swiper, no swiping!
Somebody misses her Papa.

 Tubby for Charlie.

 Fun photos in the backyard.
Everyone had a great visit!  (Can you see Charlie's 2 bottom teeth?)
